Short and sweet update.

So this will be a very short post. Dr did xrays and I do have Tendonitis in my right shoulder. So I've been put in an arm sling to try to rest the tendon. Unfortunately, it makes typing difficult. I went without the arm sling yesterday because I was tired of it. Now today I'm paying the price for doing that. So I've attached some pictures and will have to type about this last week later when I have use of my arm again. Next post will be about 16 loaves of zucchini bread, adams canceled surgery, Gracies confessions story, first day of school, Adams Bone collecting merit badge story, Girls need more space, spark plugs, door repairs, garbage disposal repairs, Elders Quorm game night, swim party, Adams dislocated toe -trip to xray - hairy armpits ;), teenagers being embarrased, and anything else I can remember from this prior week. Until then.......

Put your shoulder to the Wheel

I know I just posted..... but this weekend has been SO busy that I need to post before the next week begins. Adam and I have been running around with our heads cut off. My weekend started off on Thursday cwith a trip to the dr. I ended up with a shot of cortisone in my shoulder. I was told that I had tendonitis going on in my shoulder. She said if it didn't get better in the next couple of days to come back because it could be bone spurs rubbing against the tendons. Of course, wouldn't you know it.... the pain is back. :P So next is a MRI image. Oh joy.

Thursday and Friday Alyssa and Trent had Youth Conference. I asked each of them what the most spiritual part of youth conference was. Trent said it was the temple doing baptisms and Alyssa said it was the movie about Joseph Smith at the memorial building. As for the part they thought was the most fun...... Raging Waters ofcourse was what they both said. Trent I think enjoyed it the most though. He has his first crush. LOL He hung out with her the whole time at the waterslides. But ofcourse.... when you talk to Trent about it he gets so embarrased. Hehehe.

Thursday morning I had all of the kids on my bed watching cartoons with me. All of the sudden I could smell tuna. I asked the kids if someone had gotten into the tuna. They all looked at me like I was weird and said, "We don't smell anything. We're just eating some bread." I went into the kitchen I didn't see any open cans. So I dismissed it as my nose playing tricks on me. Later that morning I walked into the other room and found my children holding a little ball of white fluff. A kitten that was probably about three weeks old. Jared looked at me and said, "Don't be mad mom. We found the kitten out in the field. We've been hiding it under Dallins bed so that we could save it to give it to you for your birthday. It's so cute mom. Look....... oh and you know how you said you smelled tuna..... it's because we were feeding the kitten tuna." I have to admit.... it was the cutest and most cuddly kitten I think I've ever seen. I told them that we'd have to think about whether to keep it or not. Adam came home and his answer was NO. I too had thought about it and I just didn't want to have to care for another cat. One is enough. So we told the kids that the next day we would need to take it to the pound. Tears began to flow. The kitten slept with Adam for the first half of the night. Yes.... you read correctly. LOL Adam was smitten with this little kitten. I was worried he'd roll on top of it though so I moved it into the girls room.

Then on Friday morning Jared went over to Kathy Eltons and mowed her lawn. When he came home he let me know that her entire basement had flooded and that she needed some help when Adam came home moving her furniture. So I told Jared that Adam and I would stop by after I picked Adam up from work. I then informed the kids that it was time to take the kitten to the pound. all of the kids were fine with it except for Jared. He was crying hysterically. But the kitten had to go. Jinx (our cat) was VERY jealous of the kitten. It just wouldn't have worked. At 12:00 I drove to the pound and then to Adams office to pick him up from work early. I took little Adam and Gracie with me. We made a stop over at the Gateway mall first to pick up a couple of shirts for Alyssa. Then we headed over to Winco to do our Grocery Shopping and then over to Kohls to pick up some new white dress shirts for Adam. We only had an hour to get our shopping done because Adam had to make it back in time for a meeting with Sorenson Towing. We managed to finish in time and then headed back to Tooele. I dropped of Adam for his meeting and then headed over to the church to unlock it for some of the families that were going to clean that night. Then I drove back and picked up Adam and then we went back to the church to clean one of the bathrooms. Then we went home and went across the street to help her get the furniture moved out of the basement. While we were there Adam recieved a phone call that Someone in our ward needed a blessing. So when we were done at Kathy's we headed over to give the blessing. We finally arrived home at about 9:00 that night. Alyssa and Trent had returned from Raging Waters. We found Alyssa in her room crying. She was feeling sick to her stomach, had chills, and was sun burned really badly. As I looked closely at her sunburn I noticed that she was burned so badly that some patches of skin were raw and oozing. I asked her if she had put sunscreen on and Trent reassured me that he saw her put it on. So Adam and I hopped back into the car again and went to Walgreens to pick up some things to help sooth her sunburn and treat and cover up the sores. We were all SOOooo tired!! We didn't get much sleep though. Little Adams infection came back in his tooth. So we were up all night with him crying. Wednesday he will have surgery to correct all of that.

Saturday morning we woke up at seven and headed back over to the church so that Adam could make sure the rest of the families showed up to clean. Only one family was unable to make it. Adam was so happy that we had help this week cleaning the church. Adam and I and the boys tackled all of the windows in the church. While we were cleaning the windows Jared came running up to us crying and shaking. We asked him what was wrong. Come to find out he had lifted the casing that covers the fire alarm. The system is set up so that when you open the casing it sets off a warning alarm to scare off children if they mess with it. It scared Jared alright! For the next hour I called around trying to find someone with a key to turn it off. Finally I got a hold of the bishop in the other ward. He came by with the key and before he went into the building he stopped by my car to talk to me. He said that he wanted to let me know what a great kid Alyssa was. That she was a incredible kid and we had done a great job with her. He had spent the last two days with our ward at youth conference. Anyway..... he went into the church and tried to shut it off. But... in the process of trying to figure out how to turn it off he managed to set off the MAIN alarm! Within two minutes seven volunteer fireman and two police cars showed up at the church. UGGHHHHH!!!! They finally turned off the alarm. By then it was about 10:00am. Adam and I went home to check on the kids. We sent Jared, Trent and Dallin back over to Kathy Eltons house to finish taking off the baseboards in her basement and then Adam and I went to leave. But we didn't get far. Brother Zimmerman stopped us and asked if we could stop by later to help him repair his basement where the missionaries had just moved out of. We said ofcourse. Then as Adam and I drove away we looked at each other both of us so tired, and we started laughing. We just couldn't believe everything that we were having to do. Adam said... well... I guess we'll get more blessings. But I would really like some time to sleep. We continued towards Wal Mart. We ran into Shirley Beagley while we were there and talked to her for a while. Then we came home and unloaded everything from the car. Then Jared came walking up coughing like a seal and wheezing. Jared said that he had already taken his inhaler four times that morning. So I knew he needed to be seen by a dr. Again Adam and I looked at each other and I said...."When we all get home..... we are going to BED for the next two days!!" Adam headed over to Brother Zimmermans and I took Jared to the dr. Come to find out Jared had bronchitis and needed two breathing treatments for his asthma. The bronchitis had hit fast. He had been completely fine the day before. He was put on his inhaler 4 times a day for the next two weeks, prednisone for the next two weeks and zithromax. So back to Wal Mart I went to pick up prescriptions and then I dropped off Jared and headed over to Zimmermans. I would have gone home but I knew that Zimmermans really needed some help. Sister Zimmerman is going in for knee replacements on both knees at the same time and Brother Zimmerman ships out to Afganistan in two weeks. By the time I got there Adam had helped him paint most of the basement. So I started on the oven and refrigerator. At 4:00 Adam and I finally went home. I fixed some dinner for the kids. Then Adam and Trina worked on the Sorenson Towing account. We didn't go to bed until about 10:30.

Sunday Morning we woke up and went to church. We both needed tooth picks to keep our eyes open. Primary sang happy birthday to me. I can't believe I'm turning 35 this week. Crazy! Then Adam and I came home and crashed in bed!!!! Thank goodness this weekend is OVER!! But it was really great despite being tired to be able to do so much service. Until next time..... Make it a great week!!

One year older :(

This week I was reminded yet again as I am every year that the kids are getting older. I took Trent to the Junior High to register him as a 7th grader. He was so excited, not nervous at all. I on the other hand am so nervous for him. We also took the other kids over to the school to find out who their new teachers are. Gracie has Ms. Catalier. We love Ms. Catalier. Dallin had her for 2nd grade. She was fantastic! Dallin has Mrs. Elton. He was very excited about that. We are really good friends with her cousin Kathy Elton. Her cousin also lives across the street from us. Jared has Mrs. Parry. He is in the same class with all of his friends so needless to say he's quite excited also. When we came home he instantly started calling all of his friends including his best friend Noah. Both Noahs mom and I informed the boys that they will not be sitting next to each other. :) Today I will be going to finish up Alyssa's registration for 8th grade. UGGGHHH!!! Next year HIGH SCHOOL!

Our funny moment for this week came from Gracie. Last night I was sitting with her on the couch cuddling in a blanket. She looked at me and said, "I love you Mom." and gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek. Then she stared at me for a moment and said, "Mom remember the babys we saw on the news with only one body and the two heads?" I said yes (cautiously waiting to see where this conversation was going :) Then she said, "Wouldn't that be great if your head and my head were on the same body. Then we could always be together and never loose each other." I laughed and said that would be quite interesting. Then she said, "what if all of our family's heads were on one body and you and Dad controlled the arms. Then you could hug all of us at the same time." LOL Such a funny little girl.

Adam went on splits this week. He visited with Andersons, Specks and Christensens. Fortunately cub scouts was canceled for this week so we were able to take a break on Tuesday night. For family night on Monday we finished up working on the backyard. Wednesday was a very nerve racking day. I came home to find our cat Jinx laying on our bed bleeding from his eye. There was blood all over his leg and face and he was shaking really badly. All of the kids were crying and I was holding back tears also. We weren't sure what had happened. He had been completely fine that morning. I rushed Jinx over to our vet Gary Gowans and they had Jinx stay there for a little bit so that they could try to figure out what was wrong. Come to find out Jinx had a thorn that they said had been embedded deep in the corner between his eye and eyelid. It was not where anyone could visibly see it. They said it has caused a massive infection right to the side of his eye and it had hit a blood vessel. They said if we hadn't brought him in when we did he would have lost his eye or the infection could have spread into his blood stream. I was so thankful to be able to bring Jinx back home to the kids. Alyssa and Gracie gave Jinx the royal treatment for the next two days. We had to put ointment in his eye 3 times a day to keep the infection from getting worse. Fortunately, Jinx was good about letting me put them in his eye.

The kids week has been full of swimming at the pratt aquatic center with their friends, working in the garden with our neighbors, Alyssa had a sleep over with Jolene Cochrane and Sabrina Luck, Jared and his friends set up a table on the street selling baseball cards :D, Trent finished up his citizenship in the world and citizenship in the Nation Merit Badges, and we watched Diary of a Whimpy Kid as a family. Brother Zimmerman also came by this week and asked if our boys could mow his lawn for him while he is gone. He is being deployed again to Afganistan at the end of this month.

Trent and Alyssa left this morning for Youth Conference. They will be doing Baptisms for the dead this morning. Then they are going over to the JS memorial building to watch the JS movie they have there. Then they are going to eat at the Lion House and then they will be going over to the Family History Center to work on their genealogy. Tomorrow they will be going to Raging Waters.

Not much more to report this week. So until next time.........

My Six Be's Written by Shelly Mauchley

So I decided to try to post some of the songs I've written. This song is the first primary song that I wrote. Our primary sang it in their 2009 Primary Presentation. Dallin was a good sport and sang the song on this recording. I will soon be posting the rest of the songs I've written.

Work and Play

So this week was full of a lot of work but also a lot of fun. Last Sunday we attended a baby blessing for Adams brother Seth. It was so nice to get to sleep in. Their church didn't start until 1:00. Unlike our ward that starts at 9:00. It was a nice visit. But the weather was definitely not my favorite part of the day. YUCK! We had dinner after the blessing at a park. I was counting the minutes until I could be back in an airconditioned car. I don't know how the pioneers did lived without airconditioning. I ended up starting to feel sick while we were there and sadly, it was the start of a long week of being sick. Not quite sure if I had a virus or what. But it sure wiped me out this week. I'd get going trying to get stuff done and then end up sick again before the day was over. Sunday when we returned home our neighbors Matt and Leslie Pilcher came by and picked some apricots off of our tree. We ended up staying outside for about two hours talking with them. We also discovered a pear tree growing right next to the fence. Adam and I are going to wait until spring next year and then we'll attempt to transplant it into our backyard. While we were standing out there the kids were playing in the field behind our house. All of the sudden we noticed that our neighbors goat was off of its rope and was ramming straight towards little Adam across the field. Fortunately Leslie made it over there in time to divert the goat. Sister Perkins realized the goat was missing right about then and came and got him.

Monday thru Thursday were spent doing minor activities as I wasn't feeling well. Monday I took Alyssa and her friend Sabrina over to Deseret Peak so that they could go swimming. I had one of those mommy moments as I watched Alyssa walk away from the car. I started crying as I all of the sudden realized yet again that she is getting so much older. All this week I couldn't help but notice what a teenager she is becoming. Jared went over to our neighbors house, Kathy Elton, and mowed her lawn for her. Dallin and Gracie played with friends. Dallin played with Perkins little grandson Noah and Gracie played with Pilchers daughter Madelynn. For Family Night we decided to watch the old version of the Crucible on TV. Yes, I know..... quite a weird thing to watch for family night. But we thought it held a great lesson in it about lying and believing in gossip. We ended up having great conversations with the older ones. It was actually a great lesson for the kids.

Tuesday I took Jared and his friend Noah Chatwin over to the Pratt Aquatic Center to go swimming. Trent and I spent the day working on some of his Merit Badges for scouts. He was able to complete his Music merit badge and his Citizenship in the World Merit Badge. I called up Summerhays Music Store and managed to get my name put on their list of Music Teachers for the Tooele Valley. We had scouts Tuesday night also. For Scouts we had an Arrow of Light Ceremony for Brandon Hamilton. I stayed home because I was still sick. But it's a good thing that Adam went with Trent and Jared and Dallin because they were the only ones that attended other than Brandon and his family.

Wednesday was a cleaning day. Alyssa attended Young Womens. They had a budgeting night. I asked Alyssa how YW was. Her response was, "It was so dumb. All we did was math. They said ok you have x amount of money and you buy a sweater, now how much money do you have left. I already learned how to add and subtract and we already do family budgeting." LOL Trent had YM's. He finished up his radio merit badge.

Thursday Morning we woke up to a crazy thunder and lightening storm. All of the sudden at about 6:30 in the morning some REALLY loud thunder shook the house and Jared came running up the stairs shaking and his eyes about ready to pop out of his head. I was busting up laughing. He thought that someone had busted our door in and it had hit the ground. Gracie went and played with Madelynn and we finished up cleaning. Then Thursday night Adam, Trent and I attended a dutch oven cooking class for scout leaders. YUM! Then we attended Round Table Meeting for scouts. Due to the crazy lightening storms we'd had all week and also had Thursday night they ended up moving Round Table Meeting from the Wigwam to the Stake center.

Friday night our family went to the Salt Lake City Bees minor league baseball game for Adam's company party. We had a yummy barbeque at the stadium. The boys were having a blast catching all of the hits that went over the fence while the Bees were practicing. Then the kids rode on the little kiddie train that goes around the stadium. It was so much fun...... but the game moved much slower than the major leagues. We managed to get rained on a little bit during the game. The highlight of the night for the kids was eating cotton candy and snowcones and getting their baseballs, foreheads, Jareds Shoes, Alyssa's arm, and Little Adams shirt and Woody doll signed by the Bees mascot BUMBLE. Yes you read right. Body parts and clothing were signed. LOL We thought the mascot was asking us if he could sign their baseballs. So we kept shaking our heads yes. It wasn't until we saw the kids walking back towards us that we realized what we had said yes to. :P

Saturday morning we headed to the church to clean it again. We atleast had two other adults show up this time to clean. Then we came home and dropped off the kids and then headed over to Sorensons Towing for a meeting. I'm happy to say that we have now signed them on as our newest Client. Woo Hoo!!! I guess my car breaking down was actually a blessing in diguise. :) Then Adam and I came home at about 2:00 and started working on the sprinklers for the hundereth time. UGGHH!!!! We would fix one and then another one would get clogged. Fortunately Adam and I managed to not get too cranky over it. Jared helped us too. By about 8:30 that night and four trips to Home Depot and very wet clothes we finally finished fixing them!!!!! While we were at Home Depot we ran into Blair and Christine Hope. We found out that they had just put their house up for sale this week. So our ward is going to be without yet another family. Our ward has just been dwindling away this summer. As is our scout troop. Our cub scout troop now consists of Jared and Dallin and two other boys. But we like that each of the boys get so much individual attention at cubscouts because of it. When we came home Gracie whipped out her makeup and gave Daddy a makeover. LOL

At about three o'clock this morning I woke up so sick. I ended up in the bathroom for the next two hours in so much pain and throwing up. My whole body was shaking and yes.... I even started crying because the pain was so bad. Adam finally woke up and came in to try to help me. I'm still not feeling too good. I think that I may need to go to the Doctor this week and just make sure that everything is ok. Adam got all the kids ready for church this morning and went to church with them. Then he came home and dropped off the kids at the house and finished up his Sunday with his ward counsel meeting. Now he is resting peacefully and my timer is beeping on the oven so I guess dinner is ready. So.... until next time.

Whistle while you work

Today has been nothing but cleaning and work. This morning our family went and cleaned the church. Unfortunately, our family was the only family that showed up. The kids were troopers though about helping us get it all finished. Afterwards we treated the kids to some big Texas doughnuts over at Maceys. Yum! Then we came home and rested a bit and then got started on our house. Its that time again. School is starting in three weeks so its time to reorganize the house again. Oh the joys of listening to all of the kids argue over who is cleaning the most. Anyway, Adam and I got to work with our businesses while the kids finished up. Yes that's right I also have a business now. Nothing fancy. Just teaching piano lessons. Ofcourse, I had to file for a business license. So I needed a company name. I came up with Muzic Makerz Studio. Today I registered with the music store in tooele, wrote up my student contracts and posted onto the internet bulletin boards. Adam also worked today on one of the construction clients we've signed on. Adams businees partner also managed to sign on another client. Sweet and Sour USA. Woo hoo!! Adam is meeting with another client next Saturday to hopefully sign another contract. Too bad the money isn't going straight to our pockets yet.... But we just need to be patient. Hopefully our hardwork will pay off soon.

Yesterday, little Adam went into the dentist for his root canals. Things didn't go well. The dentist had numbed him as much as he could and Adam could still feel it. So they are going to be completely sedating him at the hospital next week. Hopefully this sedation goes better than the last. The last hospital sedation Adam had.... He ended up being hospitalized due to breathing problems and difficulty coming out of sedation. Despite the problems with the numbing....the whole thing was quite commical. The had him drink sleepy medicine and then also hooked him up to the gas. He kept moving his hand back and forth in front of him saying, "I can see my hand". Then he told the dentist and assistant, "cool, you guys are upside down". Then out of the blue he yelled, "you know what? My mom popped me out when I was a baby and then I was cute". We were all dying laughing.

Afterwards I drove to SLC to pick up Adam from work and we went grocery shopping. Then I came home and took the kids school shopping. Managed to get 6 packbacks for 30 dollars at walgreens and most of the kids clothes bought for another 80. I scored on deals that day. Thank goodness!!!

Trent Riding in the Rodeo

Ok...... so this will be my first post on our family blog. My whole purpose for starting this is because I'm horrible at keeping a journal. Hopefully this will be a way for my posterity to know more about me and our family.

This week was a busy one. Friday the 23rd we drove out to Tremonton to visit Adam's Mom and Dad. We took the kids and Alyssa's friend Sabria Merkley to a little rodeo there in Tremonton. The kids had a blast. Trent and Alyssa rode calves in the rodeo and Dallin, Gracie and Adam rode the sheep. Alyssa ended up with a beautiful bruise on the inside of her thigh after the calf bucked her off and then step on her. But ...... she said she is excited to do it again next year. Trent lasted the longest out of our kids. He loved it. He hopped right back up after he was bucked off. Dallin didn't last long on the sheep but still had fun. He was bucked off and then jumped right up and gave the rodeo clown a high five. Gracie and Adam on the other hand weren't happy. They were crying after they were bucked off. But they must have enjoyed it despite the tears because now all they can talk about is doing it again next year. Jared also entered the watermelon eating contest. Gracie and Dallin entered the milk chugging contest.

Saturday the 24th was Pioneer Day. We headed over back to the park for breakfast and the bike parade. The highlight of the weekend was when the firetruck came and sprayed all of the kids. On our drive home from Tremonton we dropped off Jared at Cherry Hill to spend the rest of the day with his friend Dalton Morgan and his family. After we returned home we rested for about two hours and then got the kids ready for the pioneer parade that our kids were in with our primary. Adam and I also walked with the float to keep any children from falling off the float. Little Adam managed to embarrass us as we were walking in the parade and we heard him yell out from the float, "hi sexy ladies" sigh. This phase of his is no longer funny and we have had to put a stop to it. After the parade I had to take Trent to take down flags for scouts. That turned out to be quite the adventure. We didn't finish until around 9:30. I will get to that story a little later.

Sunday Adam spoke in Sacrament meeting. Monday was spent cleaning and then later that night I took the kids with me to run the track with Diane Cottrell.

Tuesday was pack meeting for cub scouts. We drove up to Ophir for it. First the boys participated in a beautiful ceremony retiring two flags. Brother Nielsen came dressed in his military uniform to assist the boys. It was so neat to watch this noisy little cub scouts treat the flag with such reverence and respect. Jared and Dallin recieved several awards also that night. Dallin recieved belt loops for Hiking, computers, physical fitness, basketball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, bb gun, good manners and reading and writing. He also recieved pins for good manners, basketball, bb gun and reading and writing. Jared recieved his belt loops for Baseball, golfing, hiking, horseback riding, skateboarding, physical fitness, good manners and reading and writing. he also recieved pins for skateboarding and reading and writing. He also recieved webelo pins for citizen, showman, scientist and sportsman. After awards the boys took a tour of the historical sites. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't cooperating well and we all ended up rained on. We still managed to barbaque though and the boys were able to set off their bottle rockets (litter bottles) with the launcher that Adam and Dan Morgan had built together.

Yesterday I finally broke. It seems like this last month has been nothing but drama and stress of every kind. I cried for the last half of the day. I think I just needed to get it out because today I feel much better. Unforturnately, I can't say the same for our checking account. :P I managed to cost our family thousands of dollars this week. I had to take some scouts to go Rock Climbing one day and needed more gas in the car. I was worried that I wouldn't make it to the gas station to fill up so I had Jared grab the gas can from the garage and pour it in my tank. Unfortunately for me, Little Adam had put water in the gas can. We ended up with a hefty bill after the gas tank had to be removed, oxygen sensors replaced, spark plugs replaced, and gas lines cleaned out. The following week after doing flags with Trent we went to put the flags back in the storage unit. I went to get out of the car to help the boys put the flags away and forgot to put the car in park. The car rolled into another truck. Adam was NOT happy with me. I felt horrible. Two days later I ended up taking little Adam into the dentist after he had stayed up all night crying with a tooth ache. Come to find out he had an infection that had set in in one tooth and needed two root canals and three composites. The dr compared xrays from his last visit and said that it looked like a couple of his teeth had started to rot due to his sugars levels fluctuating. AGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!! Tomorrow they will be sedating little Adam to finish up all of his dental work.

Despite the drama...... life was great this week. A lot was accomplished.
